What if you could remove your braces whenever you wanted to—to eat your favorite foods, play in a sports game or go on a date—then place them back in your mouth when you’re done?
We’re happy to tell you that you can conveniently remove your treatment with Invisalign® clear aligners! We provide Invisalign for people of all ages in Viera, Merritt Island and Melbourne.
This ‘removability’ feature is one of the major benefits of this modern form of invisible braces. Invisalign can be easily removed when you’re about to eat a meal or snack, drink beverages, brush your teeth, floss your teeth, or simply participate in something that you’d prefer to do without your aligners.
(As long as you keep your aligners in for at least 22 hours a day, you can take them out as needed.)
How to Remove Invisalign
Removing your Invisalign aligners is super easy! First, wash your hands so you don’t transfer any bacteria to your mouth. Then while your Invisalign is in place, simply place your pointer finger on the inside of your back molar on one side of your mouth, hook the aligner with your fingernail and gently pull the aligner down.
When your aligner pops off the back molar, use your pointer finger and thumb to pinch the aligner and pull it off. Repeat this process with your other aligner too!
[h2] How to Put in Invisalign
Putting in your Invisalign aligners is just as easy as taking them out. First, wash your hands! Then simply place the aligner over your teeth and gently push it into place.
Use your fingertips to apply equal pressure to the chewing surface of your back molars on both sides of your mouth. Push the aligner until it snaps into place, but do not bite your aligners to place them! Biting your aligners can damage them and make them ineffective.
What about Invisalign with rubber bands?
Depending on your specific case, you may have rubber band appliances included in your Invisalign treatment. Elastics with Invisalign are the same ones often used with braces treatment, and they serve to apply persistent pressure to the jaw bones to create a healthy alignment.
Invisalign rubber bands are hooked on to a button and attached to specific teeth on the top aligner and bottom aligner. Placing your rubber bands on is simple too!
Here’s how to put rubber bands on Invisalign:
First things first: wash your hands!
Then, pull out a rubber band and place it on your pointer finger. Starting on either the top aligner or bottom aligner, place the pointer finger (with the rubber band) on top of the button or ‘Invisalign hook’.
Using your thumb, pull the rubber band down to the bottom button (or up to the top button depending on where you started) and hook it in place.
When you need to remove your clear aligners, simply unhook your rubber band on either the top aligner or bottom aligner first (with your mouth closed), then remove the rubber band. Throw the rubber band away and use your finger tips to start removing the aligners on the insides of the molars!
Can I use an Invisalign removal tool?
Yes you can! If you’d prefer to use a tool instead of your fingers, grab an Invisalign removal tool. These tools have one end designed to fit over your finger, and the other end designed to hook onto the edge of your Invisalign aligner.
These tools typically have a V-shape oat one end that you’ll use to place over the aligner edge and push downward to remove the aligner.
Invisalign aligners are very simple to remove and you shouldn’t need a tool to help you remove them, but if you prefer it this way, an Invisalign removal tool is a great option! It’s up to you!
