It’s easy to imagine that someone would have a confidence boost after the traditional metal/ceramic braces or Invisalign aligners treatment is complete, but what about during the course of treatment? Dr. Ryan Caudill and Dr. Angela McNeight will discuss ways to feel confident throughout your journey to a beautiful smile.
Invisalign wearers usually have an easier time with confidence, as the aligners are nearly invisible to the eye. Their progress is also easier to discern as there is nothing blocking the view of your improved smile. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. The more the teeth start to shift into position and the more compliments the person receives, the more they will start to smile and feel confident. It is also possible to whiten your teeth during Invisalign treatment so your smile will surely begin to shine!
With traditional metal or ceramic braces, the improvements along the way are visible, but not as clearly as with Invisalign. The person going through traditional braces treatment is more obvious, but that isn’t any reason to not strive to be confident. You should be proud that you are making progress to improve your health and appearance.
You can choose to express yourself with custom colors if you go the route of traditional braces by changing the color of the ligature ties on your metal braces at every visit to our office. These ties will not stain like the rubber ties did back in the day. Some popular combinations are red and green for the holiday season, pink for breast cancer awareness month, and orange and blue for our University of Florida Gator fans! (These are Dr. Ryan and Dr. McNeight’s favorite!) Not looking for a pop of color in your smile? Clear ceramic brackets are the way to go. Be sure to let your orthodontist know how you want to express your smile with traditional braces.
Focus on the future in any event, and know that you will be achieving the smile of your dreams. The time spent wearing braces or Invisalign trays will be worth it. Your smile is one of the most important elements of expressing yourself and reflecting confidence, so don’t wait for your braces to be removed – smile often and confidently. People will look past the braces and will see your smile shining through.
Dr. Ryan Caudill also reminds his patients, “Keep your braces clean by avoiding foods that we don’t recommend and by brushing them as directed. You will have more confidence if you feel that there is no embarrassing food stuck in your brackets or wires.”
Dr. Angela McNeight reminds adults, “You are not alone if you seek orthodontic treatment after childhood. About 35% of our orthodontic patients are adults and our oldest patient is 93 years old!”
We hope this blog helps to remind you to be confident during orthodontic treatment. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help your path to a beautiful smile be smooth sailing!
