June 21 marks the start of Summer this year. School is out, and children and teens have a lot fewer obligations. Dr. Ryan Caudill and Dr. Angela McNeight see this as the perfect opportunity to see new school-aged patients.
Traditional braces or Invisalign invisible aligners can be initiated at any time, but summer has a number of benefits for our patients and their families. Let’s take a look at some of those here in our latest blog.
Time for Appointments
We already hinted at this one, but here are the facts. Without the requirements of school attendance, children and teens have more opportunity for orthodontic appointments. Sometimes parents also have more time to schedule appointments as well.
Time To Get Adjusted
Whether it be traditional braces or Invisalign, summer provides a good opportunity to mentally and physically adapt to having new things in your mouth. Your child will have time to get comfortable with their new smile-making apparatus, and will be more ready to face their classmates in fall. Learning to live with braces also involves learning how to eat the right foods, how to brush and floss, and how to care for Invisalign trays.
Getting A Head Start on Results
In the case of Invisalign, the results begin to show week to week, and a few months of wearing their Invisalign trays will already start to align the teeth and jaws. This can be a real confidence booster, and an inspiration to keep doing the right things. Braces also move teeth quickly so your child can return back to school in the fall looking even better than when they left!
Summer also is a good time for getting fitted with a mouth guard in the case of our sports playing student-athletes. For these reasons and more, Caudill Orthodontics recommends scheduling a free exam for your child in June. Summer is a great time to relax and hit the beach – why not get started on a new smile while catching some rays and waves. Hope to see you soon!
