When do you get braces after your first appointment?
With Caudill & McNeight Orthodontics, you can get braces on your very first visit! We’re all about convenience here, and our braces appointment process is tailored to you and your needs.
Braces on day 1
With our highly-experienced orthodontists, Dr. Caudill, Dr. McNeight and Dr. Naglieri, you can get clear braces or metal braces the same day as your consultation.
When you schedule your complimentary consultation, just let us know that you’d like braces on your first visit, and your orthodontist will make it happen!
Non-custom braces can be affixed during your initial visit. Custom treatments, like Invisalign® clear aligners, have to be custom-designed and printed for you, so we can start the process for these custom treatments by taking scans on your first visit!
Our Same Day Braces appointment process
Before we dive in, there are a few requirements you’ll have to meet to be a candidate for Same Day Braces:
- Receive a dental cleaning within 6 months of your orthodontic appointment.
- Ensure that you do not need any fillings/restorations prior to starting orthodontic treatment.
Step 1: Start your complimentary consult
The first step to getting your same day braces is scheduling your consultation with our team.
Once you schedule your consult, we’ll reach out to you to gather some info from you so we can start the process right away when you visit us. Easy peesy!
Step 2: Show up for your smile assessment.
We’ll welcome you right into our super-cool orthodontic offices in Melbourne/Suntree, Merritt Island or Viera and guide you through the process.
You’ll meet with our knowledgeable treatment coordinator and have digital scans and photos taken. Your orthodontist will then perform an exam of your teeth and jaws, discuss any questions or concerns, and explain your personalized treatment plan.
Your exam and a one-on-one with your orthodontist are included in your complimentary orthodontic exam, which means your braces consultation cost is $0!
We’ll then calculate your treatment cost, calculate your insurance coverage and create a custom financial plan that works for you. (Insurance can cover a significant portion of your treatment cost. You may be surprised!)
Once all of this is taken care of and you choose your favorite type of braces, we can start the placement process.
Step 3: The placement process
*Drum roll* … Annnnnd now for the moment you’ve been waiting for! During the most exciting orthodontic appointment stage, your new braces will be placed on your teeth. This process takes less than 30 minutes!
Here’s what you can expect:
- We’ll give your teeth a quick clean to prevent any bacteria from being trapped between your teeth and new braces.
- Your orthodontist will attach your choice of clear or metal brackets to each tooth, using a dental bonding solution.
- Your arch wire will be attached to your brackets.
- The wire is then secured to each bracket using a clip built into the bracket. With metal braces, you can customize your rubber band colors for a one-of-a-kind smile.
Your entire same day braces appointment process will only take about 2 hours – then you’re off to create your beautiful new smile!
What to Expect in Your New Life with Braces
During the first two weeks of wearing braces, some tenderness is normal. While your mouth adjusts to your new appliances, we recommend doing warm salt water rinses and eating soft, braces-friendly foods. You can also take an over-the-counter pain reliever, like Tylenol, as needed.
Your 321 orthodontist will discuss proper care and maintenance of your new braces during your consult. The most important part of braces care is maintaining excellent oral hygiene. Keeping your appliances and teeth clean helps prevent discomfort and cavities, or tooth decay.
